Leak Detection in Exeter

Damp patch on the ceiling? Boiler pressure dropping every week? Water bill creeping up? SWW traces hidden leaks to the source and fixes them, with as little opening-up as possible.

Hidden leaks

Find it first, then fix it

The worst leaks are the ones you can't see. A slow weep inside a wall or under a floor can run for months — all you notice is a damp patch that keeps coming back, a boiler that needs topping up, or a musty smell that won't shift. Guessing where it is and ripping things up to look is the expensive way to find out.

We work methodically instead: pressure-testing circuits, isolating sections, and narrowing the leak down before anything gets opened up. That means less mess, less making-good afterwards, and a repair in the right place first time. Once it's found, we fix it there and then wherever possible.

What we trace

Leaks we find and fix

If water's showing up where it shouldn't, we'll find out why.

Central heating leaks

Boiler losing pressure with no visible drip usually means a leak on the heating circuit. We trace and repair it.

Under-floor leaks

Warm spots, lifting boards or damp skirting — leaks under floors narrowed down before anything comes up.

Leaks inside walls

Weeping joints buried in walls found by isolating and testing, not by knocking holes on a hunch.

Bathroom leaks

Failed seals, hidden waste leaks and shower trays that let water past — traced and put right.

Mains & supply leaks

Unexplained water use or a hissing stop tap can mean a leak on the incoming main. We test and confirm it.

Repair on the spot

Once found, most leaks are repaired the same visit — and we'll tell you if any making-good is needed.

Common questions

Leak detection FAQs

How do you find a leak without ripping everything up?

By testing rather than guessing — isolating circuits, pressure-testing sections and narrowing it down step by step. We only open up where the evidence points, which keeps disruption and making-good to a minimum.

My boiler keeps losing pressure — is that a leak?

Usually, yes. If there's no visible drip at the boiler or radiators, the water is going somewhere hidden, often on pipework under floors. It's one of the most common leaks we trace.

Can you help with an insurance claim?

We can provide details of what we found and the repair carried out, which you can pass to your insurer. Check your policy — many cover trace-and-access costs.

Do you cover my area?

We cover Exeter and the surrounding towns across Devon — Exmouth, Crediton, Tiverton, Topsham, Newton Abbot and more.
